Karnataka High Court restores Yezdi trademark to Classic Legends

New Delhi, Dec 8:

Karnataka High Court has ruled in favour of Boman Irani in the Yezdi trademark dispute, overturning a single-judge order passed in 2022 that had restrained Classic Legends from using the ‘Yezdi’ mark after the official liquidator of the mark’s first owner, Ideal Jawa, had claimed rights over it.

The Bench hearing the appeal observed that the registrations for the brand ‘Yezdi’ obtained by Boman Irani are valid and comply with the Trade Marks Act. 

Classic Legends, which manufactures Yezdi, stated that it was a landmark victory. The brand name Yezdi traces its roots to the Parsi family legacy in Iran.
